Major Speaker To Further Rudd, Obama Announcement

The Queensland Resources Expo will host Nick Otter of the Global Carbon Capture and Storage Institute as a keynote speaker at the International Industry Conference following the international launch of the project by Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and US President Barak Obama on Thursday 9 July.

Mr Rudd and President Obama, at the G-8 summit in Italy briefed the international media on the Global Carbon Capture and Storage Institute, touted by Mr Obama as a “significant announcement”.

Mr Rudd saidd that he had set up the institute "to get large scale carbon capture and storage projects done around the world, not just talked about."

UK energy industry veteran Mr Otter will address an audience of mining companies, government representatives, non-government organisations, related businesses, academics and interested members of the general public at the QREX International Industry Conference on Monday 20 July 2009.

Mr Otter will discuss the Institute and its role in the future of the Australian and international resources industry.
