Central Queensland Community to Benefit from QREX 2009

The Queensland Resources Expo (QREX) is set to deliver a raft of benefits to businesses both in the Rockhampton and Gladstone regions and the wider region. QREX includes a trade exhibition, a career marketplace, conferences, industry tours and social events.

According to QREX Event Manager, Ellie Traynor, QREX will bring in many visitors to the region, which will result in a number of additional benefits. She believes that national events, such as QREX allow an entire region to benefit, not only from the obvious trade and business opportunities, but also local tourism.

“We are encouraging visitors to stick around and see the area, and to get to know Rockhampton and the surrounding region as a place to live and come back to; as a result of this, we expect that hotels and restaurants will see increases in trade.”

While the QREX trade exhibition is aimed specifically at businesses and individuals involved in the resources sector (including employees and their families), Traynor points out that the rest of the events throughout the week are open to the general public, including the Australian Resources Careers Market, two major conferences, industry tours and social events.
